Lisa Gibbons Art

I am a BC artist, spending my childhood and adult life in a remote, wild, island community along the BC coast. My artwork reflects my relationship with the natural world, the mystery and unseen parts of our world, and how humans learn from wild nature. My depictions of animals are vehicles of healing for the viewer, representing the “messengers,” who bring back the lost relationship between nature and the human world.

The original artworks are mixed media on board, using a combination of watercolour, acrylic, oil, collage, gold leaf, bees wax, and assemblage. The process is intuitive and spontaneous, creating multi-layered, rich, textured surfaces which are unplanned for the most part.
