Daksha Narsing, author of 5 Indian Cuisine cookbooks, was born in Africa, Northern Rhodesia, (Zambia today) in 1957. She spent her young life in Africa and enjoyed spending time learning the African way of life and culture, especially their food.
She went to school in India, Poona for 2 years and spent her school holidays with her grandmother in her village in Gujarat. Here she learnt at a very young age how to clean, grind and blend spices using ancient recipes which follow the philosophy of
Ayurveda. Her grandmother taught her how to cook with fresh ingredients. By the age of 10 Daksha was preparing full Indian meals for her family.
Daksha’s philosophy is to create and offer the true flavours in Indian cuisine coming from her family.
Daksha’s Gourmet Spices came to life as a Canadian Company and family business in 1996. We have always made quality our highest priority.
